ToggleMalayagiri is a beautiful hill covered by the beautiful green forest and vegetation. There are many trees across the slope of Malayagiri, along with bushes and a variety of wild plants growing on their own. There is an abundance of wildlife moving along the trees and in between leaves; there are a lot of animals living in the branches as well as insects. The top of each hill during the winter months is covered with a layer of fog, making it appear as though you have stepped onto the top of the sky.
When considering trekking options for an adventure chance are that Malayagiri will be at the top of your list. The trek begins in flat forests then over rugged rock faces, and then up steep ridges making for a challenging yet exciting journey. It is interesting to note that nature is still working in the area to develop new plant and animal life that has never been seen before in the Eastern Ghats.
There is limited access to stores or shops on the hill; therefore, if you do not plan on bringing water, food, and/or a small first aid kit with you, chances of enjoying a successful day are very slim.
The Malayagiri forest range is located in the upper part of Odisha and forms part of the loop from the Garhjat Hills to neighbouring areas including parts of Jharkhand, and has a border with Chhattisgarh. There are plateaus and steep ridges along with deeply incised valleys; the rivers in this region provide water to the forest.
Not only is Malayagiri the highest point in the Garhjat range but it also holds significant natural value as one of Odisha’s major landforms.
Nestled within the dense forests of Malayagiri, this hill resort is ideal for those who love peace & quiet. Unlike other crowded tourist spots, it retains its rugged, unspoiled beauty. The forest-covered hillsides provide an atmosphere of calm solitude, as there is little or no noise from the surrounding environment. Very few people know about this hidden gem in Angul District; there are probably more people visiting this location than will ever know about it due to choice (the area’s lack of population) rather than chance (a consequence of region’s lush, untouched environment).
