Day 1, will be about visiting temples, ghats and ganga aarti. You’re most energetic the first day, ready to conquer the city and that’s why the most crowded places you should visit on your first day. You can start your day early in the morning with a view of Assi Ghat, looking at the sunrise, you can also take the boat to feel close to the sunrise, it is such a surreal experience. There are so many delicious breakfast spots around the ghat for you to try.
After experiencing the majestic ghat, you can visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple is one of the most popular temples in the city, it can get a bit crowded but it is worth it, and that’s all I will say about it. Although, please be ready for strict security and long queues here. Afternoon should be all about exploring the markets. The best part about Varanasi is that you don’t have to visit a specific market to explore. There are markets everywhere around the city and more importantly, there are markets, always around the temples for you to explore. You can also try authentic food in the market for lunch
Your evenings are booked for Ganga Aarti at the ghats. Make sure you arrive 45 minutes early or more so that you can find a good place to witness the majestic ganga aarti. You can always opt for a boat ride to witness the aarti as well. The aarti is surreal with chants, smoke and so much devotion
Day 2: Heritage Walk, Hidden Gems & Local Culture
Day 2 is going to be a little more calm and peaceful. You can start with visiting one of the ghats for a beautiful sunrise and a quick breakfast. Later on you can visit Durga Temple or Tulsi Manas Mandir. These two temples are a bit underrated so it won’t be as crowded as Vishwanath temple.
The second day will be all about exploring the city, the underrated gems whether it’s the temples or lanes or markets. You can always take a Heritage walk and explore the city and its hidden gems. You can also find underrated places to explore. You can visit Banarasi silk weaving workshop or quarter which is located in Madanpura. You can understand how looms work, understand the craft and how much effort goes into making one piece. You can also explore the market surrounding the area for some souvenirs. In the evening you can either visit a quaint cafe or the ghats to witness ganga aarti. You can also go to different ghats for less crowd, just to spend time by yourself, talk to locals, understand faith and have delicious meals nearby.

Day 3: Sarnath and Offbeat Experiences
You can visit Sarnath which is approximately 10 km away from the visit. This city is quite important for Buddhist people. You can explore the Dhamek Stupa, Ashoka Pillar remains, the archaeological museum housing the Ashoka Lion Capital. The reason why this city is so famous is because this is where Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment, so it’s a meaningful contrast to Varanasi’s Hindu-centric energy. You can come back to Varanasi and spend your last night in the city in whichever way you like.
